New Asus WM Smartphones at CeBIT

The CeBIT conference is happening right now in Hanover, Germany. Right now, the biggest news there seems to be some new devices and new interfaces coming from Asus. The basics is that it's 3G and it's expensive. It's also a WM6.1 Pro device with a custom interface slapped on top.

Asus is also showing off the M536, a WM6.1 pro device with a front-facing QWERTY, 320x320 flush touchscreen, WiFi, and HSDPA. We'd call it a Treo 750 killer, but it's Euro-bands only. ...Which makes it a Treo 750v killer.

Green Cellphone battery- An industry solution..

Cellphones, and the materials they are made of, in general, contain hazardous chemicals that can be harmful to us all especially when they’re piled up in huge volumes. This might not be affecting us now, but in due time, all the filth will eventually accumulate to haunt future generations. Clearly, action needs to be taken as soon as possible to fix this serious problem.

So how do we do it? An entry to the Greener Gadgets Competition held recently in New York City offers a very viable suggestion: create a universal battery pack that will work with any consumer electronics product, be it a cellphone, MP3 player, laptop, or other battery-powered device.

“The Green Cell battery is a single, standardized battery which will fit every type of personal electronic device. [It] is made without toxic chemicals and is safe and environmentally friendly. It can also be recharged or replaced at a local vending machine.”

This is a very nice concept that, if ever developed into a full product, could save us all from the hassle of having to carry lots of different chargers around for all our mobile devices. It will also make looking for replacement batteries easier than ever, and you don’t have to worry about causing harm upon disposing of used units because, as mentioned in the concept specs, this will be made without toxic chemicals and other harmful substances. It should in fact be safe and environmentally friendly.

Sony Ericsson PSPhone mockup

The gaming community is buzzing this morning from some supposedly leaked scans of a possible PSPhone would give it a full 480 x 272 display, mini-analog stick, and drop UMD in favor of playing full PSP games via M2.

Top box: Between both keyboards there is a 3 inches screen with the same resolution of the PSP (480x272 pixels) which guarantees a good gaming experience. Good as well for movies.

Lower right box: PSP functionalities were replicated in this architecture, making possible that all PSP games can be played. It won't have UMD slot, but it'll have M2 cards instead

Left box: Slide on one side and you'll find a joypad with analog stick for PSP controls. Slide to the other side and a number keyboard will show up enjoying the ergonomics of Sony Ericsson.

Mobile and Fashion: The Bond is Getting Tightened

Last week when I stepped into a retail mobile outlet at Camden market, one of the most happening places in London, I saw advertisements of Levi's mobile phones which are all set to be released soon. I was a bit dumb thinking “is it the clothing company Levi's or a new kid on the block?” One of the persons in the outlet came into rescue my curiosity and told me that it's the same Levi's whose jeans are popular worldwide and trusted for years now. He even told me that the device will be manufactured under licence by the Paris-based ModeLabs. I came to know that the steel framed Levi's phone with "shiny silver" and "shiny sand" finishes for the ladies and "metallic silver", black and "brown copper" for the lads will be available in the UK very soon.

I didn't buy anything but came out of the outlet with much satisfaction. To tell you the truth, I am a bit fashion conscious and love to be in sync with the latest trend. So, the news about the launch of a Levi's phone was definitely a! Currently I'm using the the Nokia 6111 Cath Kidson with flowers on it while my brother is using the stylish and elegant LG Prada, both designer phones. Some of my friends have even got the Motorola RAZR V3i Dolce and Gabbana. Yes, the mobile industry is also getting fashionable each passing day. Mobile manufacturers have roped up with some of the most prestigious fashion houses thus unveiling eye catching fashion mobile handsets.

Fashion and mobile technology are now more akin than ever. Mobile phones now don't work as mere communication gadgets, they also work as good medium to show off one's fashion quotient. And the entry of fashion labels into the mobile market has helped further in igniting the the stylish mobile trend.
